The City of Fredonia works to revitalize the city by dealing with dilapidated homes.
The Fredonia City Commission has set a goal this year to deal with the number on vacant homes in the city that are in disrepair. As a part of this goal, the commission is considering the establishment of a Vacant Registry. City Administrator Wesley Young says the purpose of the registry would be to keep track of the vacant homes in Fredonia.
Since the beginning of the year, the city has started condemnation proceedings against more than 20 properties in Fredonia. Young says this is part of a larger goal of revitalizing the city and encouraging economic development.
The Fredonia City Commission will continue the discussion on the Vacant Registry at their next meeting on March 20th
