The Crawford County Historical Museum in Pittsburg will host a beginners rug hooking class this Saturday.

The class will be taught by Cathy Waggoner of Hooks and Loops Primitive Rug Hooking. The course is designed to help beginners get started on the basics of rug hooking, including how to pull loops, fill in patterns, and basic binding, plus a little history of the craft.

The class will be held from 10 to 3 on Saturday at the Crawford County Historical Museum, located at 651 US 69. The cost is $65. This includes pattern on linen, wool cut into strips, finishing wool or yarn, museum donation, and instruction. Prepayment is requested.

Needed are a rug hooking frame, rug hook, and small sharp scissors. If you need to purchase, Waggoner has these items available. Frames are handmade at $65. Hooks are $44, and scissors are $8. I have you place the cost of these as a deposit, cash, or check. If you want to keep them at the end of the teaching sessions, you can, if not and they are in good shape, you can return them and get your deposit back. Pay at the class for these item.

Bring your own cold drink and sack lunch if desired. Coffee will be available.
