The Parsons City Commission gives the go-ahead for several upcoming events and purchases.

 At Monday's meeting, commissioners approved the closure of Broadway from 13^th to Heacock in September for the upcoming Relay for Life Event. They also considered changes to a city ordinance regarding fireworks sales. Mayor Eric Strait tells the commission about the proposed changes.

Commissioners unanimously approved the changes. In other business, the commission awarded a bid for polycart containers and another for mowing for the Tolan Creek Disc golf Course. They also approved the purchase of 25 Taser 7 electric control devices for the Parsons Police Department.
