Kansas Congressman Ron Estes Takes IRS to Task

US Congressman Ron Estes from the Kansas 4th District want so to know why the Internal Revenue Service is still working from home.

Estes made his case in an op-ed in the Sunday edition of the Wall Street Journal. Estes says he has had many constituents come into his Wichita office who are experiencing delayed responses and challenges when it comes to dealing with the tax collecting agency. The flood of problems from voters in his district, prompted Congressman Estes to ask IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel how much time his agents spend in the office.

Estes says  Unlike a business with competition and the incentive to improve, the IRS will likely continue to put higher priority on employees’ comfort than on providing Americans with good, timely service. That means it is up to Congress to hold the agency accountable. Estes represents the 4th Congressional District in Kansas which includes Chautauqua, Elk and Greenwood counties.
