Adoption fees are an important part of running and upkeep of an animal shelter. Coffeyville Friends of Animals Board Director Becky Barnhart says adoption fees for a dog are $100 and $55 for a cat.

Barnhart says if a dog or cat has already been spayed or neutered then the fee drops to $30, but there does have to be a fee charged.  Barnhart says some adoptions can be fully or partially sponsored by someone who has donated the money to cover the adoption fee.
