Coffeyville City Commission Meets, Addresses Full Agenda

The Coffeyville City Commission takes on a busy agenda at this week's meeting.

The commission met on Tuesday night at city hall. Among items before commissioners was the recognition of recipients of Employee Service Awards. Long-time city employees were recognized for their years of service to the city of Coffeyville.

The Commission also heard from Alicia Melton of Touch of Life Ministries that operates the city warming center located on the first floor of the old Lowell School Building on 9th street. The warming center opens when low temperatures are forecast to be below freezing. Melton says, with the recent cold weather and only ten beds, the center often houses many people.

The commissioners approved a measure that would waive up to $2,500 in utility bills for the shelter.
