Milk Production Up In Kansas and Oklahoma

 Milk production in Kansas shows a slight increase at the end of 2023.

 Milk production in Kansas during December 2023 totaled 354 million pounds, up 1% from December 2022, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. The average number of milk cows was 176,000 head, 1,000 head more than December 2022. Milk production per cow averaged 2,010 pounds.

Meanwhile, milk production in Oklahoma during the October-December quarter totaled 167 million pounds, up 12 percent from the July-September quarter, but down 6 percent from last year's quarter. The average number of milk cows in Oklahoma during the quarter totaled 37,000 head, down 2,000 head from the same quarter in 2022.
