Pink Buildings Causes Law Change in Liberal

 A new business in downtown Liberal prompts the repeal of a decades old city ordinance.

 The Liberal City Commission voted 5-0 on Tuesday to repeal a city ordinance requiring color changes in the Kansas Overlay District to get approval from the zoning and planning commission.

The move was prompted when a business in the western Kansas city, Chikas Fresas, began painting the exterior of their building pink. With the repeal of the ordinance, the business plans to continue to paint the exterior of business. They plan to open is early February.
