Residents of Independence who meet eligibility requirements have a little more than a week left to apply for the Hardship Rate for city utilities.
The rate applies to families who meet HUD low-income criteria and need relief for their water, sewer, and trash service fees. Applications will be accepted through January 31st and are available at City Hall and on the city of Independence website.
