The city of Independence is still accepting Hardship Applications for city utility customers.
A "Hardship Rate" is for families who meet HUD low-income criteria and are in need of relief related to their water, sewer and trash service fees. City Manager Kelly Passaeur says there are a few requirements for customers to be eligible.
Applications will be accepted until January 31st and are available at city hall at 120 north 6th street in Independence. Or on the city of Independence website. Those wanting more information can contact the Independence Housing Authority office at 620-332-2536.
