Bridge Near Erie to Close

Planned construction will impact anyone traveling north of Parsons on U.S. 59.

According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, the Neosho River Bridge on U.S. 59 in Neosho County is scheduled to be replaced. The project should begin this month on the 29th. The bridge is 2 miles south of Erie and will close to traffic on the 30th. Traffic will follow a detour on K-47, U.S. 169 and K-39. The new bridge should be open to traffic in January 2025, weather permitting. KDOT awarded the construction contract of $11.2 million to A.M. Cohron & Son, Inc., of Atlantic, Iowa.
