K9 Highway Patrol Officer Seriously Injured in Crash

 A K9 Officer with the Kansas Highway Patrol is seriously injured when a semi struck the patrol car the dog was in while parked on I-70.

 The accident happened around 3:15 on Friday afternoon in Ellis County just east of Hays. Troopers had stopped to assist another tractor-trailer along the roadyway. KHP Trooper Budke left his K9 partner Igor inside his patrol car. The car was then struck by another semi. K9 Igor was rushed to a nearby veterinary clinic. The German shepard remains in ICU but is recovering slowly.
