The Independence City Commission is set to hold their first meeting of 2024 tonight.
On this evening's agenda will be the swearing in of new city commissioner Scott Smith as well as the sellection of a new mayor. Prior to tonight's meeting, however, will be a special event to show appreciation for outgoing Mayor Louis Ysusi. City Manager Kelly Passauer says the public is invited to attend the reception.
Passauer says the mayor has plans to active in events around the city. Also on the agenda for tonight's commission meeting will be a discussion of what to do with the flashing street lights at two interesections in downtown Independence. All of tonight's events take place at city hall, located at 120 north 6th street in Indy.
