Two Teens Arrested on Theft and Battery Charges

 

Two teenagers are arrested on theft and battery charges.

 

Independence Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue on a report of a 20-year-old man being hit by a vehicle. The victim told officers that they were at home when one of the suspects ran off with their firearm and fled in a vehicle. The victim says they pursued the suspect on foot and was eventually hit. Officers gathered witness statements, reviewed surveillance footage and received information from the Neodesha Police Department on the case. IPD officers arrested 17-year-old Davian Steven Broderick, of Neodesha, on charges of felony theft and aggravated battery.  

 

Further investigation led officers to the stolen firearm and discovered another suspect's involvement. IPD officers obtained search warrants and recovered the stolen firearm, drug paraphernalia, opiates and hallucinogenic drugs. 19-year-old Christopher Jacob Taylor, of Independence, was arrested on charges of felony theft, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, criminal threat, kidnapping, contributing to a child’s misconduct, possession of opiate, hallucinogenic and drug paraphernalia, criminal use of weapons, criminal possession of a weapon by felon and interference with a law enforcement officer.
