A four-legged officer with the Coffeyville Police Department is retiring.

After 10 years of service, K-9 Police Service Dog Rommel is officially retired. According to the department, Rommel came from Holland when he was just 13 months old and partnered with K-9 Handler Captain Daily. Rommel and Daily received their training and certification through the Kansas Highway Patrol. Rommel was utilized by the department for the dual purpose of patrol and narcotics detection. Throughout his career, he has assisted with numerous drug arrests and felony apprehensions. He will spend his retirement with Daily.
