Renovations Taking Shape in Ottawa County Jail

A complete plumbing renovation is taking shape in the Ottawa County, Oklahoma jail.

Jail officials say renovations include the replacement of all plumbing, installation of new cold and hot water lines, and the replacement of the boiler with tank-less water heaters.

Before the renovation, the jail's boiler was replaced every two years, which caused water shutdowns for several days at a time. The facility used bottled water and a trailer with a water tank was on hand to ensure enough water for essential needs.

As of Wednesday, hot water is in the facility, with the installation of tank-less heaters scheduled for next week. Other projects include installation of sinks, toilets, and showers.

Funding for the new water lines and tank-less heaters comes from a grant provided by the Miami Tribe.
