Citizens can pick up a free gun lock at the Parsons Police Department.

These have been made available through a grant from the Parsons Area Community Foundation in partnership with PPD, the Labette County Sheriff's Office and the Parsons Chapter of Moms Demand Action. Chief Robert Spinks emphasizes the importance of practicing safe gun storage to protect children, prevent accidents and deter criminals.

The free gun locks can be picked up 24 hours a day at the front lobby of the police department at 217 North Central. Distribution will continue until the current supply is gone. A link for additional gun safety guidelines can be found
