According to Independence Fire-EMS, the fire was brought under control around 6:15 a.m.  A patient was treated on scene and possibly one deceased animal was found in the structure. Assisting Independence Fire-EMS was Cherryvale Fire-EMS, Independence Rural Fire, and Dearing Rural Fire.

 

 

Original Story:

Local fire crews are responding to a structure fire just south of the intersection of East Main street and 2nd Street in Independence. Crews from Independence, Dearing and Montgomery County are all responding to the fire at the northwest corner of 2nd and East Magnolia.  About a dozen emergency vehicles are on the scene.  The fire was reported around 5:45 this morning.  There is no word yet regarding any injuries.
