Winter Wheat Update

The growing season has come to an end, and the final weekly crop progress report for the year has been released from the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Winter wheat conditions across the state are rated 10% very poor, 15% poor, 36% fair, 34% good and 5% excellent. K-State Research and Extension Wildcat District Crop Agent James Coover says winter wheat in southeast Kansas is looking about the same as last year.

Coover says that as we head into the next couple of months, the crop is ready for the colder conditions.

Pasture and range conditions are rated 17% very poor, 29% poor, 39% fair, 15% good, and 0% excellent. Monthly crop progress reports will start being issued in January.
