Montgomery County Commissioners Approve Pay Increase for Jail Staff

The Montgomery County Commission approves a pay increase for corrections officers at the Montgomery County Jail.

At today's commission meeting, Director of Human Resources Ben Brubaker says Montgomery County needed to pay increase to attract more applicants.

Brubaker adds that staffing shortages in the jail have caused difficulties that can be eased by the pay increase. The jail also plans to offer more training to improve officer performance and safety. The Commission approved the increase from $15 to $17 per hour by a 2-0. Commissioner Mike Cordray is traveling and did not attend the meeting.
