Fire Weather Watch Issued for Parts of KS, OK

A fire weather watch has been issued for parts of south central Kansas and north central Oklahoma.

According to the National Weather Service, extreme fire danger is possible across the area on Friday. Strong winds with gusts to 50 or 60 mph, low humidity and warm temperatures will create an environment where fires can spread quickly. This watch includes Elk and Chautauqua county in the immediate KGGF listening area. The watch area may need to be expanded as we get closer to Friday, so stay tuned for updates.
