Two Arrested On Drug & Theft Charges

A St. Louis man and an Overland teen are arrested in Cook Station for burglary.

Crawford County Sheriff Darin Layman says deputies responded Wednesday to a business in the 200 block of YY in Cook Station for a report of a burglary in progress. Deputies were informed of unauthorized subjects in possession of firearms in a cabin on the property. While attempting to locate the suspects, deputies discovered two firearms on the stairwell to the second-floor room of the cabin. The suspects were found in the upstairs room.

During questioning, it was learned the suspects had stolen a vehicle, along with the firearms from the St. Louis area, and traveled to the cabin. Items consistent with the meth use and a quantity of meth were located.

26-year-old Charles Puff of St. Louis and 19-year-old Devan Cooksey of Overland were charged with 2nd-degree burglary, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with a motor vehicle, and unlawful use of a weapon.

Both suspects were transported to the Crawford County Detention Facility for processing. The investigation is ongoing.
