Joplin Council Focuses On Marijuana Use & Growing

The Joplin City Council passes a motion focusing on marijuana in its city limits.

The new ordinance would make it illegal to consume or smoke marijuana in any public place. It would also be illegal to be under the influence of the drug while operating any form of motorized transportation.

The ordinance mentions growing marijuana as well, those 21 and older cannot possess, grow or harvest more than six flowering plants, six non-flowering plants, and six seedlings, or clones, at a time.

Fines would range from $100 to $1,000. Preliminary approval was given during last night's meeting; second and third readings for the proposed ordinance will take place in two weeks.
