Caney Police Chief Kevin Kitterman tendered his resignation during last night's city council meeting.
It's officially a resignation, but Kitterman says it's unofficially a retirement, after forty years as a police officer, the last three years serving as Caney's Chief. Mayor Josh Elliott says Kitterman's impact on the town will be felt for years to come.
Kitterman says it's time to spend more time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Elliott says the search for the new chief has begun.
Elliott says Kitterman will have a huge hand in helping choose the next chief. More information, including hiring requirements, will be on the city of Caney's website, caneyks.com.
