One person is dead and another seriously injured after a head-on collision near Girard.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 43-year-old Kelli Bradshaw of Walnut, Kansas, was driving eastbound on K47 two miles west of Girard yesterday morning when her vehicle went left of center for an unknown reason and struck an SUV driven by 69-year-old Elaine Keener of Arizona. Keener was fatally injured in the crash, while Bradshaw was taken to a Joplin hospital with a suspected serious injury. Keener was wearing a seatbelt, while Bradshaw was not.
