New Health and Wellness Programs for Juvenile Detention Inmates

The Southeast Kansas Juvenile Detention Center is implementing new health and wellness programs, with the intention of creating a more beneficial experience for inmates.

A major goal of the facility is to give inmates the opportunity to grow and reform from previous situations and life events. This has led to collaboration projects with the Mental Health Center, as well as the Community Health Center.

Executive Director Michael Walden says that he is optimistic that these programs will reflect a positive impact on the individuals that embrace them.

Additional items of discussion at the Montgomery County Commission meeting were the approval of a Neighborhood Revitalization Project for the City of Caney, as well as information regarding the Child Care Community Develop Block Grant from the Montgomery County Action Council.
