The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Allen County Sheriff’s Office are conducting a death investigation after remains were found Saturday evening near Humboldt.
Saturday afternoon around 5:30, a man searching for antler sheds called 911 when he discovered what he believed were human remains. Deputies from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area, east of Humboldt, near Arizona Road and 1800th Street. Upon arrival, human skeletal remains were found.
The remains have yet to be identified. Officials say positive identification may take longer than in typical cases due to the condition of the remains. An autopsy is scheduled.
