Suspicious clothing items lead to the discovery of a body in Crawford County.

 Major Adam Carnal of the Crawford County Sheriff's Office says the report came in Tuesday evening; suspicious clothing items were located on private property on Mound Ridge Road in Cook Station.

 Wednesday morning, after a search warrant was obtained to retrieve items and evidence, deputies and investigators located human skeletal remains along with the clothing. The search was halted due to the remoteness, terrain, and scale of the area. Additional assistance was called in yesterday, including the Steelville Fire Department and the Rolla Rural Fire Department.

 Carnal says no positive identification of the remains has been made. This is an ongoing investigation; more information will be given when available.
