Remains found in Cherokee County have been identified.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Galena Police Department have identified the remains found in a field in Galena on February 27th. The man has been identified as 52-year-old Peter C. Wittington, of Carthage. The family last heard from Wittington in late 2022.
The investigation has not indicated any signs of foul play. Authorities are awaiting the final autopsy report. The investigation is ongoing.
