Little Flock Baptist Church in South Coffeyville is added to the Cherokee Nation Registry of Historic Places. Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. says the designation of this church is not only a proud day for the Cherokee Nation but a proud day for him.
After the designation ceremony, new legislation was signed that commits money into a new fund to preserve the tribe’s historic sites and authorize official biographies of past leaders. Hoskins says it is important that they embrace all of their history. The new Cherokee Nation Historic Places Preservation Fund Act was passed by the Cherokee Nation Council on Monday.
