Large Group Attends Meeting in Support of Former Chief Ward

Close to 100 people were in attendance to support former Fire Chief Kenneth Ward at the Coffeyville City Commission meeting.

Several citizens spoke during public comments including Principal Travis Stalford, retired Fire Chief James Grimmett and Boy's and Girl's Club Director Griffin Walker. Ward spoke during the meeting asking for his job back.

Those who spoke weren't just questioning City Manager Mark Hall's decision to terminate former Chief Ward but decisions on what firefighters can respond to and certain fundraiser events that were not allowed. No one spoke in defense of Hall and a number of citizens asked for either his resignation or termination.  The commission met in executive session for over an hour but no action was taken.
