Cherokee Nation Designating a Local Church

The Cherokee Nation is holding an event in South Coffeyville tomorrow.

Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskins and other Cherokee Nation Leaders will be in South Coffeyville tomorrow at 3:30pm for the designation of a church. Little Flock Baptist Church will be on the Cherokee Nation Historic Registry and there will be a signing of the Cherokee Nation Historic Preservation Fund Act.

The Little Flock Church has been a part of the surrounding Cherokee Freedmen community for more than 100 years in religion, education and cultural history. Originally built in the early 1900s, the building is an example of stone masonry in Cherokee Freedmen communities. Tomorrow's dedication adds the property to the tribe’s historic registry for preservation and potential restoration.
