An officer has died and another is in serious condition after an incident in Hermann, Missouri Sunday night.

 MSHP says Hermann Police were called to Casey’s regarding a disturbance around 9:15 yesterday evening. Two officers were shot by 35-year-old Kenneth Lee Simpson, one in the head and one in the chest. Detective Sergeant Mason Griffith died from injuries in the shooting.

 According to multiple media outlets, Simpson is cornered in a standoff at this time.

 Hermann, Missouri is located about 45 minutes east of Jefferson City in Gastonade County on the Missouri River. This is the first line-of-duty death the city has ever experienced in its history, which was founded in 1895.

 The investigation is ongoing.
