A man is dead after spending less than one day at the Leavenworth Penitentiary.

 The Kansas Bureau of Prisons says 39-year-old Nolan Dewall was found unresponsive around noon Wednesday. Life-saving measures were initiated, but Dewall did not recover. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

 Dewall was sentenced to 12 months for bank fraud and arrived from Iowa at the Satellite Camp adjacent to the actual prison Tuesday. The adjacent Satellite Camp at Leavenworth is a minimum security facility that currently houses 342 male offenders.
