Montgomery County Moving Forward with County Health Grant

The Montgomery County Commission received an update this afternoon regarding the grant request that was submitted for the County Health department.

County Health Director Carolyn Muller says that all items from the original grant request relating to a new trailer were approved, with the exception of fencing. However, after contacting the state, it was determined that fencing could be used with the grant money.

The next steps for the county will be to search for bidders and decide which organization to partner with for this project. Muller says that Montgomery County has until June 30th to decide before the grant money expires.

Additional items of discussion at the Montgomery County Commission meeting were an executive session with Public Works Director Jim Wright regarding acquisition of real property, as well as granting permission for the public works department to solicit bids for chemicals for noxious weed.

Montgomery County Commission meetings take place each Monday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Judicial Center in downtown Independence. All meetings are open to the public, as well as streamed on Facebook and Zoom.
