South Coffeyville Gym Bond Issue Going to Voters

The decision to build a new gym for South Coffeyville Schools is now in the hands of voters.

During a special meeting today, the South Coffeyville Board of Education voted to move forward with a special election to let voters decide on the bond issue. Superintendent Daryl Pruter says the decision is a big step forward.

The board now has better information on the proposed cost to taxpayers, which is now estimated at $11.24 per month per $1000 of taxes. Pruter says the addition of 12 mills instead of 16 as previously estimated will still make taxes in South Coffeyville less expensive than in surrounding areas.

The special election on the new gym will be held on April 4th.
