KanDrive App & 511 System See Huge Rise In Use

 

The use of the Kansas Department of Transportation’s new app and the improved 511-phone system is soaring.

 

The new app was rolled out in October and the 511-phone system was updated then as well. From November through December KanDrive App sessions went from almost 7,000 to over 44,000 – an over 500% increase. During the same time frame, the number of 511 calls expanded by almost 400% as well. No doubt the Christmas holiday storm that brought record-low temperatures prompted many people to give the new App and improved 511-phone system a try.

 

The new App contains all the features on the KanDrive website but also includes a hands-free/eye-free feature that announces upcoming traffic events. The 511 system’s voice quality and speech recognition features have been improved and will allow motorists to ask for reports on a specific route, in a city, or between cities.
