Governor Kelly Sworn In for Second Term

Kansas's governor is sworn in for her second term. Governor Laura Kelly and Lt. Governor David Toland were both sworn in earlier today on the steps of the State Capital building.

Governor Kelly first became the 48th governor of Kansas on January 14th, 2019, pledging to rebuild Kansas by reaching across the aisle. Since then, she has worked with a bipartisan group of legislators to fully fund schools, axe the sales tax on food, close the Bank of KDOT, and recruit the largest economic development project in state history. Governor Kelly says we are often told that there’s “a fork in the road” and you have to make a choice to either go right or left. She says she believes that's a false choice and the best choice is right down the middle of that road.

The governor will give her State of the State Address on Wednesday at 6:30pm, which you can hear on the Mighty 690 KGGF.
