The city of Independence had the First Friday event to kick off the 2023 calendar year.

 

City of Independence Mayor Dean Hayse spoke and recapped the 2022 accomplishments. Among the items of note were beautification projects for fencing and demolitions in Independence as well new public and private partnerships in the downtown area.

 

Hayse says that the city also put in the necessary steps to be approved by the state for a Rural Housing Incentive District project.

 

Independence has plenty of goals and projects planned for the new year, and Hayse says that there are city board positions available for citizens looking to help the city grow.

 

Independence also saw a major growth in commercial investment in 2022, with the addition of corporations such as Fed Ex, Precision Railway, Domino's Pizza, Scooter's, and more.
