The City of Independence has two openings on City Boards.
The Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals is needing another member. The Planning Commission makes recommendations to the city commission regarding rezoning, conditional use permits, and platting. Variances are considered by the Board of Zoning Appeals.
The second position available is for the Economic Development Advisory Board. The vacancy is for an unexpired term ending on January 1, 2025. The Economic Development Advisory Board recommends and reviews the city’s economic development policies and prepares strategies and policies as determined by the Board or requested by the city commission.
Applicants on either board must live within the city limits of Independence. Individuals wishing to serve on either board need to turn in an application by noon on January 20th.
