The Kansas Highway Patrol works four fatality crashes with five fatalities over the New Year's holiday weekend.

The reporting period for the holiday weekend is from 6:00pm Friday to 11:59pm on Monday. None of the crashes were DUI related for the third straight year, which makes just one DUI related fatality from Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's holiday weekend.

The KHP assisted 512 motorists down significantly from 906 in 2020 and 648 in 2021. There were 567 speed citations issued and 60 seat belt citations.
