American Rescue Plan to Expand Broadband Access in Kansas

The American Rescue Plan is bringing expanded broadband coverage to the state of Kansas.

The global pandemic shifted many businesses and individuals to a work-from-home setting, and it has become increasingly more important to be equipped with high-speed Internet. The federal government is making $42.5 billion available across the states to expand broadband access and improve digital consistency.

Kansas State Senator Virgil Peck says that the state of Kansas will receive nearly $400 million to improve broadband access across the state.

Peck says that the improved broadband will especially impact rural areas, who have been asked to work from home more over the past several years.

The Federal Communications Commission has utilized a new map that attempts to show what internet speeds are available down to specific street addresses.
