Most of the time, sirens aren't a good thing, but this is the sound of the Galena Volunteer Fire Department and the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office escorting the Galena High School band back from the Alamo Bowl over the weekend.

 

The band had the opportunity to perform at the halftime show during the game in San Antonio along with a several other schools from around the country.

 

The Galena High School Band was one of 43 bands nationwide and four Kansas bands selected to perform in six bowl games this year by educational travel company WorldStrides, which has been providing these kind of opportunities for students for 55 years.
