The City of Galena is still under a boil water advisory after a water main break over the weekend. According to Public Works Superintendent Josh Reed, city crews located a leak on Saturday morning around 15th and Joplin streets. The leak was caused by a crack in a line that had to be cut out and replaced. The entire city water system was shut off in order to make the repair. Water pressure started returning to normal Saturday evening.
Because of the nature of the break and repair, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued a boil water advisory for anyone on Galena water. KDHE will have to finish testing the water before the advisory can be lifted.
