Results For Local Kansans In The National Finals Rodeo

 

The National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas is in the books and Coffeyville’s own Jake Long and partner Clay Smith came in 15th in the average in team roping, as they did not score on 6 head this year.

 

Also in the team roping event, Buddy Hawkins formerly from just north of Sedan came in 4th with his partner Andrew Ward. Hawkins also came in 4th in the World standings with just over $225,000 earned.

 

Tanner Brunner from Ramona, Kansas came in 6th in the average and 9th in the World with almost $175,000 earned in the steer-wrestling event.

 

Waverly, Kansas Cowboy Jess Pope won the Bareback Riding and was named the 2022 World Champion. Pope won the average by a wide margin with 860 points, a full 12 points higher than 2nd place. This is the 3rd year in a row Pope has won the average. That put him #1 in the world standings with nearly $391,000. The earnings also propelled Pope to 3rd in the RAM Top Gun Standings.
