Kansans To Watch For in the NFR in Vegas

 

The 8th round of the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas is in the books.

 

Bareback bronc rider Jessie Pope who is from Waverly, Kansas ended the 8th round in a 3-way tie for 2nd place with a score of 87 and earned $17,410. That makes Pope nearly a lock for #1 in the world standings with over $308,000 earned.

 

Coffeyville hometown cowboy Jake Long and his partner Clay Smith tied for 12th place in the 8th round yesterday in Team Roping turning in no time. The pair goes into the 9th round tonight still 14th in the average with 4 head. Long has dropped to 8th in the World Standings.

 

Buddy Hawkins formerly from north of Sedan, ended up the 8th round in 8th place with a time of 4.5. That puts Hawkins and his partner Andrew Ward remain in 4th place in the average on 6 head. Buddy is still 4rd in the world standings with just over $190,000 earned.

 

Tanner Brunner from Ramona, Kansas tied for 12th last night in the steer wrestling with a time of 5.8. Brunner is still in 6th place in the average going into the 9th round tonight. He stayed at 11th in the World Standings with over $130,000 earned.
