ICC Alum Endows Scholarship on Behalf Of Former Educator

 

A former Independence Community College student-athlete on the football team as well as an ICC theater student is inspired to endow a scholarship on behalf of an ICC retired faculty member.

 

Everett Falder, a resident now of Kentucky, attributes his enthusiasm for his college success and the theater to his former educator Gary Mitchell. Mitchell an ICC alum returned to the campus and taught theatre and English for 31 years. Recently he appeared on stage at the William Inge theatre performing a role for the second time for the ICC Fine Arts showing of OUR TOWN.

 

The Gary Mitchell Endowed Scholarship will be awarded annually to a student involved in football, theater program, or both. Everett, who won the “Best Supporting Actor” Anna Award in 1975, said College brought special people into his life and one of those was Gary Michell. Everett went on to say that Gary made a positive impact and a difference in his life.
