Governor's Wildfire Task Force Seeking Pubic Input

Governor Laura Kelly is calling on Kansans to share thoughts and ideas on how Kansas can do a better job of preventing, responding to, and recovering from wildfires.

Last July the Governor established a Wildfire Task Force to take a comprehensive look at mitigating wildfire threats, to review how local and state agencies respond and how to support those entities better, and how to better support communities impacted by wildfires.

This is in response to the fact that since 2016 the state has experienced 3 large wildfires that consumed over 800,000 acres and receives reports of an average of 6000-plus wildland fires each year.

Your input can be submitted on the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s website through the end of November. www.agriculture.ks.gov/WildfireTaskForce
