The Independence Police Department has established three ADA parking areas for the Neewollah Festival.
Those include the south row of the municipal parking lot located on the southeast corner of Chestnut and 8th, the east half of the 100 block of E. Myrtle and the municipal parking lot located on the northeast corner of 6th and Myrtle. ADA parking spaces will be marked with standard signs and temporarily painted stripes on the lots. Van-accessible spaces will have additional width to accommodate entry and exit from vans.
Parking is not permitted in any portion of any row marked for ADA parking without displaying ADA credentials. All violators will be cited and towed. Police Chief Jerry Harrison says obeying accessible parking signs isn’t just the law, it’s the right thing to do.
