Buckle Up Phone Down Day Today For A Goal Of Zero Fatalities

Kansas Department of Transportation accepted a challenge from the Missouri DOT to join in their goal of 0 fatalities on the nation’s roadways today. To encourage everyone to think safety first, today is Buckle Up Phone Down Day. Across the US last year more than 42,000 people died in crashes, that’s about 117 lives lost every day. About 50% of those killed were not wearing their seatbelts. Statistics show that the proper use of safety restraints reduces the risk of death by up to 45% and decreases serious personal injury by up to 50%. According to the CDC people not wearing a seat belt are 30 times more likely to be ejected from a vehicle in a crash. For more information call 785-296-3585
